AAO Honorary Life Membership
Honorary Life Membership may be awarded by the Board of Governors upon a member(s) selected by the Membership Committee and recommended by the Board of Trustees in recognition of outstanding service to the osteopathic profession. This member may have provided service in any of the two following categories: contribution to osteopathic literature; development or teaching of osteopathic principle and practice; service in osteopathic health care in the community; and/or service in the fields of osteopathic education. Honorary Life Membership may also be conferred upon members who have been in the practice fifty years and have been a member of the Academy in good standing for twenty-tive years immediately preceding the honor. Honorary Life Members shall have the privileges and duties of Active members but shall not be required to pay dues or assessments. Honorary Life Members may vote, hold office, serve on committees or as committee chairmen, or in other capacities as the Academy deems useful or necessary. |
