Donald V. Hampton, DO Honored with the A.T. Still Medallion of Honor from the American Academy of Osteopathy

Little Rock, Arkansas, March 28, 2009 – Donald V. Hampton, DO awarded the American Academy of Osteopathy’s most prestigious award, the A.T. Still Medallion of Honor, at the 2009 American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) Annual Convocation in Little Rock, Arkansas. The award recognizes Dr. Hampton’s unremitting dedication to the osteopathic profession and his reputation as a clinician and educator. The Andrew Taylor Still Medallion of Honor is award to deserving members of the Academy who have exhibited among other accomplishments in scientific or professional affairs an exceptional understanding and applications of osteopathic principles, and of the concepts which are the outgrowth of those principles.

Dr. Hampton has been an active member of the American Academy of Osteopathy. He is a 1954 graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Hampton has practiced osteopathic family medicine/osteopathic manipulative medicine.

Dr. Hampton served as Professor and Course Director of Osteopathic Principles & Practice from 1994-2004 at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Hampton currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus of OMM at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie and Bradenton. He served on the Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles. He continues to be involved in patient care and teaching at LECOM. Dr. Hampton’s research interests include Osteopathic Principles and Practice.

Dr. Hampton became board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Special Proficiency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine in 1993. In addition to the American Academy of Osteopathy, he is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Ohio Osteopathic Association, and the Cranial Academy.

Dr. Hampton was an active member of the Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles (ECOP) until 2006. He has been an active contributor of items for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, Inc. and the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination.
